What is Shichimi and Why Is Ours Special?
Shichimi is a traditional Japanese seasoning blend that artfully combines up to seven (shichi) spices (mi) to achieve a unique and harmonious balance of flavors. While many shichimi blends on the market rely on mass-produced ingredients, resulting in a generic taste, we set out to create something truly exceptional. Our shichimi is crafted with premium ingredients that are incredibly rare, even in Japan! This blend isn't just about overwhelming heat—it's about delivering layers of complex flavors and captivating aromas that elevate your cooking to new heights.

Shichimi With Yuzu, Togarashi & Tangerine
Our yuzu shichimi blend combines the sharp but mild heat of Kagawa Hontaka chili peppers, Japan's oldest chili variety from 400 years ago. We've sourced yuzu peel from Umaji Village in Kochi Prefecture, an area renowned for its premium yuzu production, delivering zesty, citrusy note. We also added tangerine peel to increase the brightness and add a refreshing palate, making this seasoning an excellent choice not only for jazzing up your dishes but also for adding a unique twist to cocktails, like a spicy margarita or a sake cocktail. We've also blended sesame seed, poppy seed, hemp seed and a fragrant aosa seaweed to create a marvelous seasoning like no other.
Sansho Shichimi With Black Sesame & Togarashi Our sansho shichimi features lightly hand-roasted black sesame seeds combined with hontaka chili pepper, a heirloom variety from over 400 years ago, harvested in Kagawa Prefecture. It is celebrated as Japan's oldest chili pepper and adds a sharp spiciness that doesn't linger. To introduce a layer of complexity we've added budo sansho peppers from the Kishu region, a premium sansho varietal known for its bright, green aroma and a tingling, numbing sensation. We've blended poppy seed, hemp seed and shiso leaf to create a rich, black seasoning like no other.
How to use Tsubi Shichimi
Our shichimi blend is perfect for savory dishes such as Tsubi miso soup, roasted vegetables, noodles, rice bowls, seafood, or even ramen. It also complements tempura, salads, and stir-fries, adding a zesty, citrusy twist with balanced heat and fragrance.

All the varieties were tasty and filling. Even though the soups are easy to prepare, they also feel like real food that is nutritious. My favorite was the spicy mushroom, which is not too spicy.
