Shichimi is a traditional Japanese seasoning blend that skillfully brings together up to seven (shichi) spices (mi) to create a harmonious balance of flavors. While many shichimi blends on the market rely on mass-produced ingredients, resulting in a generic taste, we set out to create something truly exceptional. Our shichimi is crafted with premium ingredients that are incredibly rare, even in Japan! This blend isn't just about overwhelming heat—it's about delivering layers of complex flavors and captivating aromas that elevate your cooking to new heights.
Sansho Shichimi With Black Sesame & Togarashi
Our sansho shichimi features lightly hand-roasted black sesame seeds combined with hontaka chili pepper, a heirloom variety from over 400 years ago, harvested in Kagawa Prefecture. It is celebrated as Japan's oldest chili pepper and adds a sharp spiciness that doesn't linger. To introduce a layer of complexity we've added budo sansho peppers from the Kishu region, a premium sansho varietal known for its bright, green aroma and a tingling, numbing sensation. We've blended poppy seed, hemp seed and shiso leaf to create a rich, black seasoning like no other.
